Many good memories, although things became different when the war ended. People had gas and did not have to rely on the Village for their social life. My Dad played pool on those tables, I played on the tennis courts, got a haircut at the Barber shop, etc. One of the most desirable places on earth for a kid to grow up. I am forever grateful to the men and women who created the Village Green. If that were to go well, that committee might expand and look into some of the other recreational amenities which we once had, and were considered so vital to the overall concept of the community.

When we had the Historic Structure Report done last year, one of the recommendations for long term rehabilitation/restoration would be to restore some of these recreational facilities (one idea was to buy back the Clubhouse, should those units ever come up for sale again). That report went as far as to recommend the possibility of removing later garage buildings, in order to restore some of the recreation areas.

Not sure how that would go over, but this Ad Hoc Playground Committee has been working VERY hard to explore all of the possible liabilities, as well as the obvious assets, to having some of these amenities available again.

The committee is going to present their report to the community this week at those two Town Hall meetings, I hope to see you there! I'll be present for the Thursday night meeting.

Keep in mind no decisions have been made on anything, the committee has been busy gathering information, listening to other resident's concerns and questions, and has tried to address most all of them, which they will present in their final report.

The Town Hall meetings this week will be more like informal workshops, it should be fun.Steven Keylonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11162895111618226987noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-478449696602390151.post-40385280792358558322011-03-21T20:52:01.616-07:002011-03-21T20:52:01.616-07:00Thanks for sharing this history. Are there any plans or movement to reinstate any of the other recreational facilities, buy back the clubhouse, or put in the old proposed pool?Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03072291101390130251noreply@blogger.com
